- My first step would be to disconnect the incoming phone line from the internal
- house wiring, and connect a phone directly to the line - if you still hear the
- buzz, complain to the phone company. If not, disconnect any answering
- machines, codless phones, modems, etc, and see if it's clean with only onee
- plain low-tech phone.

- If it's OK, add everything back, one at a time, til you find the culprit.

- If not, there may be some fault in the wiring - look for shorts to ground,
- wires with insulation worn lying against water pipes or heating ducts, etc.
